About Club Tryouts:

Cal Coast Volleyball Club fields competitive travel teams that compete in SCVA tournaments. Age divisions include 12-Under through 18-Under. Those players who do not wish to travel or are not selected for a travel team may participate in a Practice-Only program.

We realize the level of commitment it takes to be on a travel team. The time, effort, and monetary commitments are big, but so is the payoff. Travel teams enjoy, on average, 9 SCVA sanctioned tournaments. Some of them are multi-day tournaments. Plus, add in the intra-club scrimmages and other club events. All of this translates into LOTS of playing time and opportunities to get better. By challenging yourself and your teammates, you can take your volleyball skills to the next level. While our Practice-Only teams are a fantastic option for those with busy family schedules, the Travel Teams enjoy a much higher jump in volleyball skills development.

All tryouts will be held at Griffin Sports Center, 974 Griffin St, Grover Beach Online payments are accepted after athlete registration Tryout fees are non-refundable and are used to pay for gym time, coaches, and other tryout expenses.

Practices and Tournaments:

Team practice days are set the beginning of the season.  Times and days are set with the considerations of coach’s schedule and court availability. One weekend practice is used for many of our Practice-Only teams and are scheduled throughout the day. The practice schedule for the season will be posted online after tryouts but before team commitments.

All Cal Coast VBC practices and meetings are held at the following:

Travel teams: All Ages will practice two (2) days per week for 2 hrs each time. One Day tournaments are approximately 1-2 per month on weekends and are generally held in the Los Angeles area. The 17-Under and 18-Under teams may also participate in the Las Vegas Invitational Tournament over President's Day weekend.

Practice-Only teams: 13's - 18's will practice two (2) days per week for 1.5 hrs each time. Teams may play in local tournaments on the weekends or evenings organized by the club, subject to scheduling.

Practice-Only teams: 12's will practice two (2) days per week for 1 hour each time. Teams may play in local tournaments on the weekends or evenings organized by the club, subject to scheduling.

2012-13 Season Cost

Travel Team:
$2,000 - 4 hours practice per week in addition to the normal tournament schedule
Price includes all gym fees, tournament fees, coach's salary, coach's hotel, equipment, SCVA registration, insurance, uniform package, and any administrative costs.

Practice-Only:
$850 - 13's thru 18's
$750 - 12's
Price includes all gym fees, coach's salary, equipment, insurance, uniform package, and any administrative costs.
