Meet The Coaches

Erin Alves

Erin Alves returns for her third season with Cal Coast VBC. Alves brings over 11 years of coaching experience with her. She began coaching at her alma mater Mission San Jose High in 2001, coaching the boys squad to a winning record. Alves moved to the Central Coast in 2002 and served as the Mission Prep JV coach for 3 years. She then assistant coached at Hancock College and coached with Central Coast Volleyball Club for 2 years in Santa Maria, Ca. Finally, she took on the daunting task at became the Varsity Head Coach of the Nipomo Girls Volleyball team for two seasons; leading them from a losing record to a CIF berth.

Alves played two years at Ohlone College in Fremont, CA, earning All-coast Conference honors after playing varsity volleyball at Mission all four years. She was 1st team All-Mission Valley Athletic League from her sophomore year through her senior season. Alves was named the team MVP during her junior and senior years, as well as team captain in her senior season. Competing in club volleyball for seven years, Alves earned two junior Olympic bids while playing for the Vision Volleyball Club.

Alves is Gold Medal Squared and IMPACT certified.

Alves earned a bachelor degree in liberal arts from the University of La Verne. She currently teaches PE for Grover Heights & Fairgrove Elementary Schools. She lives with her husband Joe and three dogs in Oceano.
